My name is Stephen Hickson and I'm an urban planner because I believe that cities can be transformed to become better spaces for people.

I grew up in suburban Ottawa and have seen first hand what poor urban planning means for communities. Rigid zoning requirements, parking minimums, inadequate transit, and poorly designed infrastructure limits accessibility, promotes car dependency, and creates dangerous environments for children and seniors. It doesn't have to be like this. Cities can be so much more.

I'm working as a planner with TransLink's Transit Network Management team where I work on route design, ridership analyses, mapping of service levels, and customer communications. I'm loving how my work is making a difference for the people of Metro Vancouver.
